Tehran – IRNA – The Iraqi Minister of Trade in a meeting with the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of our country emphasized on the expansion of trade relations, especially in the field of pure trade.
“We have been self-sufficient in the field of wheat and barley for the past two years, and these areas can be fruitful for deepening trade relations,” Alaa Ahmad al-Jubouri was quoted as saying by IRNA on Wednesday from the Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade.
Emphasizing the need to hold various exhibitions to present products directly and without intermediaries with the cooperation of Iran International Exhibitions Joint Stock Company, he said: “The trade balance between the two countries is high, which is a favorable ground for securing the interests of both countries.”
Al-Jubouri noted that Iraq is the second largest trading partner of Iran after China.
Referring to the outbreak of the Kuwait 19 virus and its impact on businesses and the global economy, the Iraqi Minister of Commerce stressed: “Regional cooperation is needed to promote trade and the development of trade relations is planned in the future.”

Cross-border cultivation
Referring to Iran’s cross-border cultivation capacity in Iraq, he said: “The ministries of agriculture of the two countries, along with the Ministry of Industry, should pursue this issue in the form of the Economic Council.”
According to IRNA, the total value of Iran’s exports to Iraq in the first nine months of this year was 20 million tons worth five billion and 900 million dollars, which shows a seven percent increase in weight compared to the same period last year.
